Co-Founder Dr. Eduardo Gonzalez-Hernandez, MD is a board certified orthopaedic hand surgeon and is responsible for the leadership and direction of all Product Development teams. A true visionary, Gonzalez’s ideas form the basis for TOBY’s innovative product line. He currently has 7 issued US patents and over 50 pending worldwide applications in conjunction with the company. Gonzalez received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and later completed his orthopaedic residency and fellowship programs at Case Western Reserve University. He has completed numerous orthopaedic, hand, and microsurgery fellowships around the world and is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons with Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery. A frequent speaker at conferences around the globe, Gonzalez is an active member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Association of Hand Surgeons.
Professor Diego L. Fernandez, MD is an orthopaedic and hand surgeon whose expertise extends throughout the musculoskeletal system. Honorary Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Berne, Dr. Fernandez actively practices in the Lindenhof Hospital in Berne, Switzerland. Born in Argentina, Fernandez started his orthopaedic and hand surgery training under Prof. Eduardo Zancolli in Buenos Aires. He was a resident at the Orthopaedic Department of the University of Berne under the mentorship of Prof. Maurice E. Müller and later completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon his return to Switzerland, he completed Orthopaedic Residency and assumed the position of Chief of the Hand Surgery Unit in Berne. In 1991, Fernandez became Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Berne and later moved into private practice. In 2001, he was awarded Honorary Professor status of the University of Berne. In addition to his role at TOBY, Fernandez is an active member of numerous international scientific societies including the Swiss Orthopaedic Association, the Swiss Society of Accident Medicine, the Swiss Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
